Equipment:
We shoot primarily 35mm film and digital with Nikon equipment but we're also equipped to shoot 4x5 when needed. We have a small studio and limited lighting since we are primarily geared toward location photography.

Awards:
An image we made for a recent Kansas! Magazine cover was awarded 1st place in the cover category of the North American Travel Journalists Association's (NATJA) annual competition. We've also won awards from the Society of American Travel Writers Association (SATW) and the Central States chapter of SATW.

Michael Snell photographed several of the cats housed at the Cat Association of Topeka (a cage-free, no-kill shelter) for use on a fund-raising calendar and notecard package.

Michael shot the burning of prairie grass in the Kansas Flint Hills for use in the Kansas Getaway Guide.

Michael photographed this butterfly along with many other less appealing insects for a story written by Sally M. Snell for AAA Midwest Traveler on bug zoos and insect museums.

Assigned to shoot the new Brown v. Board of Education National Historic Site, Michael was presented with the problem of not being able to show any of the interior displays due to negotiations that were still underway regarding copyrights. The solution was to photograph the staff with a slow shutter speed and a fair amount of camera movement. A quick pulse of light from a strobe froze the employees in crisp detail.

The Los Angeles Times Magazine assigned Michael to shoot several of the famous fried chicken restaurants that can be found in Kansas. This image is from Stroud's in Kansas City.

Michael was assigned to provide photography for a restaurant review for the Little Apple Brewing Company in Manhattan, Kansas.
