Michael got into book design after a decade and a half of designing everything from ads for dog food to annual reports for financial institutions. One day while raking leaves, he found a children's meal package that had blown into the yard as trash. It was one that he had designed. At that point he decided to pursue more permanent forms of design things that wouldn't be tomorrow's litter.
Always having a passion for books, it seemed a logical direction to pursue. Books can be both beautiful and extremely useful when well designed. And they tend to be kept for years and seldom blow into your yard as trash.
Since going freelance in 1997, Michael has designed everything from large-format, full-color photography portfolios to trade paperbacks. He has designed cover and interiors, and enjoys the different thought processes that go into each.
